Health Consequences of Bulimia

Bulimia nervosa is a type of eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating which are followed by behaviors that are meant to prevent any weight from being gained as a result of the binge. Individuals who are suffering from bulimia are also frequently plagued by preoccupations with their weight and body shape, which often results in a significant amount of distress and impacts their engagement in the binging and purging behaviors.

The binging and purging cycle of bulimia has significant medical consequences. It affects the entire digestive system, and produces electrolyte and chemical imbalances.
